Hi, I'm Coleen.
I’m an independent designer based in NYC. I've been getting my hands dirty with everything from code, to motion graphics, to interaction and system design, for over two decades. My experience spans early-stage to established companies.
I was a part of the fledgling design team at Twitter, where I worked on foundational experiences like Media in timelines, and Conversations. There, I co-founded Women in UX to facilitate difficult conversations about inclusivity and bias. I've advised companies like Medium. I love telling stories, and until 2021, was a long-time consultant at Sequoia Capital where I worked closely with portfolio companies like DoorDash to develop theirs.
I’ve leveraged technology to amplify messages of peace in war zones, historically live-streaming from North Korea alongside Gloria Steinem and Nobel Peace Laureates Leymah Gbowee and Mairead Maguire.
I’m also a multidisciplinary artist whose animated short film Chamoe premiered at BAM in 2022. I write a Substack-featured publication The Line Between, where I share my process. I’m a member of the Korean American Artist Collective. I've been published in Offscreen magazine and The Audacity.
My diverse experiences in and out of the office demonstrate curiosity, drive, heart, and agency—all of which I bring, happily, to collaborations.
